Chairul Radjab Nasution is an experienced health service manager and a practicing gastroenterologist. He graduated as a general practitioner from the University of Indonesia in 1982 and as a specialist in internal medicine in 1991. In 2001, he studied Health Services Management in Australia. In 2008, he earned a subspecialty in gastroenterology and a Master's in Hospital Management. He completed his Doctorate in 2019.
Nasution began his career as the head of a health center in Nias in 1983. In 1996, he became Head of the Secretariat at Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta, later serving as Medical and Nursing Director. He then directed Djamil Hospital in 2008 and Fatmawati Hospital from 2008-2011.
In 2011, he became Director of Referral Health Services Development at the Ministry of Health, and in 2015, he was the Expert Staff for Health Technology and Globalization. In 2016, Nasution was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BPJS Health.
He consults for various institutions, teaches at universities, and speaks on hospital management. He is active in professional organizations and has received several awards for his contributions and dedication.
